Gogoon Alcoholic Beverage Packaging

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021

Wen Liu's packaging design operates as a sophisticated system of visual and cultural signifiers that position the product within matrices of meaning extending far beyond mere commercial identification. The radial pattern dominating each vessel's surface functions as a polysemous symbol, potentially evoking the ceremonial parasol traditionally associated with honor and protection, the sunburst motif signifying enlightenment and auspicious beginnings, or the mandala form representing cosmic wholeness and spiritual completeness. The circular medallion positioned at each pattern's convergence point serves as both literal center and symbolic nucleus, its form echoing the full moon backdrop and thereby establishing visual rhyme between product and celestial body, suggesting associations with lunar cycles, celebratory gatherings, and the marking of time's significant passages. The chromatic choices encode additional layers of meaning, with teal traditionally associated with tranquility, depth, and precious materials such as jade and turquoise, while the metallic gold and rose gold accents invoke prosperity, refinement, and celebratory occasion. The tripartite presentation itself carries numerological significance, with three representing harmony, completeness, and auspicious fortune in numerous cultural traditions. The vertical orientation of the vessels suggests aspiration and elevation, while their substantial bases communicate stability and groundedness. The textured stone surface upon which they rest establishes material dialogue between refined craft and natural element, suggesting the transformation of raw ingredients into cultured product. The lunar presence invites interpretation as symbol of cyclical renewal, romantic occasion, or the illumination of darkness, each reading enriching the product's associative field. The typography visible on labels bridges linguistic traditions, communicating simultaneously to multiple audiences while maintaining visual coherence. The overall compositional strategy creates what might be termed a secular altar arrangement, positioning the product as worthy of contemplation and ceremony rather than mere consumption.
